The Will of William Dunkley the elder late of Brington Grazier Decd proved 11th July 1767

This Will, together with entries from both parish registers, provides the link between Dunkleys of Brington and Kislingbury, both in Northamptonshire. In the name of God Amen I William Dunkley the Elder of Little Brington in the Parish of Great Brington in the County of Northampton Grazier Do make this my last Will and Testament in manner following Recommending my Soul into the hands od Almighty God my creator assuredly confiding in mercy through the merits Death and Passion of Jesus Christ my Blessed Saviour and Redeemer and my Body I commit to ther Earth to be decently Buried at the Discretion of my Executor herein after named and as to my personal Estate I dispose of the same as follows out of which first I Do hereby Order and Direct that my just Debts and Funeral Expenses be fully paid and satisfied by my Executor herein after also named Then I Give Devise and Bequeath unto my Grandson William Dunkley the son of my son John Dunkley the sum of one shilling to be paid him by my Executor herein after named within Twelve months next after my Decease I Give Devise and Bequeath unto my Daughter in Law Ann Dunkley the Wife of my son John Dunkley the sum of ffive Pounds to be paid her by my Executor herein after named within Twelve months next after my Decease Item I Give Devise and Bequeath unto my Grand Children John, Henry, Edward, Thomas, Samuel, Elizabeth and Elianor Dunkley sons and Daughters of said son John Dunkley the sum of ffive pounds apiece of Good and lawful Money of Great Britain to be paid them by my Executor herein after named as soon as they shall attain their respective age and ages of Twenty one years but if either of them should happen to Die before they attain and come to their respective age and ages of Twenty one years Then and in such case such share or shares of such Child or Children so dying I Give Devise and Bequeath unto and amongst such Child or Children then living to be Divided amongst them share and share alike Item all the rest and residue of my personal Estate Money Securities for Money and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever and what nature sort or kind soever I Give Devise and Bequeath unto my Son William Dunkley To and for his sole use and Benefit and I hereby nominate and appoint my said son William Dunkley Sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament hereby Revoking all former Will and Wills by me here to fore made and I Do Declare this alone to be my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I the Testator William Dunkley the Elder have here unto set my hand and seal this First Day of September In the year of our Lord One Thousand seven Hundred and sixty six.
