William Seager of Highway Wiltshire - his Will

 William was my 4 xg grandfather, his grand daughter Elizabeth Seager married William Spackman in 1842.

 In the Name of God Amen
I William Seager of Highway in the County of wilts
Gentleman do this ninth Day of January in the year of our
Lord one thousand eight hundred and nine make ordain
publish and declare this to be my last Will and Testament
in manner following that is to say in the first place I do

hereby ratify and confirm the settlement made upon or previous
to my marriage with my present Wife and in addition to the
provision thereby made for her I give unto my good Friend John
Brown of Avebury in the said County Gentleman and Henry Crook of Corton in the sd County Gentleman
one thousand and three hundred pounds upon trust that they
my said trustees and the Survivor of them and the Exors or
Admons of such Survivor do and shall immediately after my
decease lay out and invest the said sum of one thousand and
three hundred pounds in the Public Stocks or Funds or upon
Real or Government Security or Securities at Interest in their
or his own names or name and shall and do pay apply and
dispose of the Interest dividends and Annual proceeds of such Stocks
Funds or Securities wherein or upon which the said sum of
one thousand and three hundred pounds may happen to be placed
or invested when and as the same shall become payable and
be [] unto my own Wife Mary Seager or otherwise permit
suffer and authorize her to [] and take the same from
time to time during her natural life to and for her own use &
benefit and from and immediately after her decease there upon
trust to pay the said principal sum of one thousand and three
hundred pounds or Assign the Security or Securities had or []
for the [] unto between and amongst my four Daughters
Elizabeth Mary Ann and Alice in equal shares and
proportions to and for their own use and benefit absolutely I give
unto my Son Thomas Seager a [] of three thousand and
five hundred pounds the same to be paid him on his attaining his age of twenty one years with Interest in the mean time at the rate of four &
an half per Cent per Annum from the time of my decease
I give unto my four daughters Elizabeth Mary Ann & Alice
a legacy of two thousand pounds a piece the same to be paid them
on their attaining their respective ages of twenty one years or
days of marriage which shall first happen provided such
marriage be with the consent of my Wife & [] hereinafter
named together with Interest for the gain in the mean time
at the rate of four and an half per Cent per Annum from
the time of my decease also I give to my to my
said Son Thomas and my said four daughters the sum
of twenty pounds apiece to buy them Mourning I give unto
my said Wife such of my Household Goods and Furniture
as she may have occasion for and which may be absolutely
necessary for her own immediate use all my Stock of Cattle
Corn Grain Hay Implements of Husbandry Household
Furniture [] what shall be taken by my said Wife for her
use as aforesaid Book debt monies and Securities for money
and all the rest and Residue of my personal Estate and
Effects whatsoever and wheresoever and of what nature or kind
soever of which I shall be posessed and used for the payment of my
just debts legacies and my Funeral and Testamentary expenses
I give and bequeath unto the said John Brown & Henry
Crook their Executors Admons and Assigns but upon trust &
[] that they my said trustees and the Survivor of
them and the Executors or Admons of such Survivor shall &
do carry on the business in which I am at prezent [] for
the benefit of my two Sons William and Edward until my
said Son Edward shall attain the Age of twenty one years
and when and as soon as he my said Son Edward shall
attain the said age of twenty one years then upon trust that
they my said trustees and the Survivor of them and the

Executors or admons of such Survivor do and shall make upon
account of the whole of the [] personal Estate and Effects &
hereby bequeathed to them upon the trusts aforesaid and the
increase thereof and do and shall pay transfer and divide the
sum in to and between my said two Sons William and
Edward in equal proportions and share and share alike
to and for his and their own use and benefit absolutely
provided [] and my Will and [] is that if
my said Wife shall continue unmarried and shall assist
in conducting and managing the business in which I am now
engaged to the satisfaction of my said Trustees until my said
Son Edward shall attain his said age of twenty one years
she my said Wife shall be entitled unto and have her
Board Lodgings and other [] out of the profits of the
said Business without being in any manner accountable
for the same and I do hereby nominate constitute and
appoint the said John Brown and Henry Crook joint Exec
utors of this my Will and Guardians with my said
Wife of the [] and [] of my Children during
their respective minorities and it is my further Will and
meaning that my said trustees and Executors shall not
be answerable or accountable for each other or for losses which
may happen without their wilful neglect or default or for
any more money than shall actually come to their
respective hands and that it shall and may be lawful for
them to retain and keep to themselves out of the said trust
Estate and Effects all costs charges damages and [] which
they or either of them shall or may sustain or be put unto
in or about the execution of the trusts hereby in them reposed
In Witness whereof I have to this my last Will and
Testament comprised in two sheets of paper to the first sheet
thereof set my hand and to this second or last sheet thereof
my hand and Seal the day and year first above written
William Seager WS signed Sealed published and decred by
the said Testator William Seager as and for his last Will &
Testament in the presence of us who in his presence at his
request and in the presence of each other have hereunto
subscribed our names as Witnesses HR Burt // Elizabeth Crook

On the 16th Jany 1817 Admon with the Will award of the
Goods Chattels & Credits of William Seager late of Highway
in the County of Wilts [] was granted to William Seager
& Edward Seager the natural & lawful Sons & Residuary
Legatees named in the sd Will having been first sworn by
[] duly to Adm John Brown & Henry Crook the
Exors named in the said Will has first [] the
[] thereof
