Thomas Crook of Tytherton Lucas - his Will - 18 Dec 1782

Thomas was my 6x G Uncle

 In the Name of God Amen

I Thomas Crook of Tytherton Lucas in the County of
Wilts Gentleman being of sound mind memory and Understanding
do make this my last Will and Testament in manner and
form following First I commend my Soul to Almighty God
hoping for Salvation through the Merits of my Redeemer
Jesus Christ and my Body I commit to the Earth to be
decently interred at the discretion of my Executors herein
after mentioned And as to my Worldly Estate wherewith
it hath pleased God to bless me I give and dispose
thereof as follows I give and devise to my Son Robert
Crook all that my Close of Pasture Land called or known
by the Name of Tanners situate and being in the Parish
of Bremhill in the County of Wilts to hold to him his
Heirs and Assigns for ever Also I give and devise to my Son
William Crook all those my several Closes and Parcels of
Land situate and being in the several Parishes of Chippenham
Langley Burrell and Hardenhuish or one of them in the
County of Wilts belonging which I lately Purchased of Mr William
Buy of Swindon And also all that my Messuage called
 
Hulberts situate and being in the Parish of Langley Burrell
Chippenham and Hardenhuish aforesaid together with five
Beast Leazes in the Common of Langley Burrell aforesaid and
also the House and Garden in the Parish of Tytherton Lucas
aforesaid which I lately purchased of John Taylor To hold to
my said Son William his Heirs and Assigns for ever Also
I give to my said Son William Crook the Timber and
Materials which I have provided or may provide to rebuild
or repair the said House Also I give to my Son Thomas
Crook my several Closes of Pasture Land called Hill Meads
situate and being in the Parish of Bremhill aforesaid To
hold to my said Son Thomas his Heirs and Assigns for
ever  Also I giive to my dear Wife Elizabeth
Crook all and singular my Messuages and Lands situate
in the Parish of Langley Burrell aforesaid which I purchased
of Edward Stopes (except the Orchard which I have added
to my own Orchard) And also my House and Garden in
the Parish of Chippenham aforesaid which I purchased of
Mr Horsington To hold to my said Wife her Heirs and
Assigns for ever Also I give and devise to my Daughter
Elizabeth Crook my two Houses in Tytherton aforesaid
which I purchased of Thomas Tucker To hold to my said
Daughter Elizabeth her Heirs and Assigns for ever Also I
give and bequeath to my Son Robert Crook the Sum
of Three Hundred Pounds over and above the Sum of
eight hundred Pounds of which I have advanced him above
part and instead to advance him the residue in my
Lifetime Also I give and bequeath to my Son William
Crook the Sum of one hundred Pounds Also I give and
bequeath to my Son Richard the Sum of two hundred
pounds Also I give and bequeath to my Daughter Elizabeth
the Sum of eleven hundred Pounds The said Legacies to be
paid them by my Executors within Six Months after my
decease Also I give to my Grand Children John Charles?
Crook and Thomas Crook Sons of my Son Richard Crook
the Sum of twenty Pounds each to be paid them respectively
at their Ages of Twenty one Years Also I give to my
said Wife Elizabeth all my Plate Linen China Ware
Brewing Utensils and Household Furniture to her own
separate use Also I give and bequeath all my Waggons
Carts Ploughs Harrows Harness Plough Tackle and Implements
of Husbandry to my Son Thomas to his own separate
use Also I give and bequeath to my said dear Wife and
to my said Son Thomas all the rest and residue of my
ready Monies Securities Books Debts Cattle Stock in
Husbandry and all and singular other my Personal Estate
Rights and Credits whatsoever and wheresoever chargeable
nevertheless with the Payment of my Debts and Legacies herein
before mentioned And i do appoint my said Wife and my
said Son Thomas joint Executors of this my last Will and
Testament and I do revoke all former Wills by me before
made In Witness whereof I have to this my last Will and
 
Testament set my Hand and Seal this eighteenth day of
December in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven
hundred and eighty two Thos Crook Signed Sealed published
and declared by Thomas Crook to be his last Will
and Testament in the Presence of us who in his presence
have set our Names as Witnesses thereto Gdn Baylisse
Joseph Storrall James Storrall
 
This Will was Proved at London the third day of
April in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred
and eighty four before the Worshipful George Harris Doctor of
Laws Surrogate of the Right Worshipful Peter Calvert also
Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative
Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the Oath of Thomas
Crook the Son of the deceased and one of the Executors named
the said Will to whom Administration was granted of all
and Singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of the said
deceased he having been first sworn duly to administer
Power reserved of making the like grant to Elizabeth Crook
Widow the Relict of the said deceased and the other executrix named in
the said Will when she shall apply for the same
