Edward Eddolls of Langley Burrell - his Will - 18 Dec 1686

I havent yet worked out exactly how Edward fits into my family tree, but this is a very interesting will where an inventory was taken of his possessions. Some of the spelling is also very interesting.

 In the Name of God Amen The Eighteenth Day of December in the year

of our Lord God one thousand Six hundred Eighty six and in the Second year
of the Reigne of Our Soveraigne Lord King James the Second by the Grace of God
King of England & etc I Edward Edolls of Langly Burell in the County of Wilts Carpenter
being att this time in health memory & understanding praised be Allmighty
God for the Same I knowing the Sartainty of Death And the unsartainty of the
time & hour thereof And being therefore desirous to Settle in order my Estate
which God hath bestowed upon mee that I may not in my Extreames bee?
Incumbred and troubled with worldly Affairs Do make this my Last will and
Testament in manner & form following (that is To Say) First I doo hereby make
renounce frustrate and make voyde all by mee formerly made and doo
declare & Appoint this my Last will and Testament Item in the first place
I bequeath and Comend my Soul unto the true & Everlasting God my heavenly
Father Stedfastly beleiveing it shall be placed with the [] of God And as touching
my Boddy I bequeath the Same to the Earth from whence it Came, And as for my
Wordly Estate I give will and Devise the Same as followeth, Imprimas I give
And bequeath unto my Loveing Daughter Ellizabeth Baker Widdow the Summ
of Fifty pounds of Lawfull money of England and hereby I
Doe Acquitt and discharge her of the Same which said moneys I formerly lent her
Item I give and bequeath unto my Loveing grandson Edward Baker Sonn of my
Daughter Elizabeth Baker Widdow and to his heirs for Ever All that my Messuage order
Tenament and Orchard and Two Cloases of Meadow or Pasture adjoyning to
the said Messuage or Tenament Containing by Estimation five Acres be
it more or Less And All those three Acres of Earable Land Lying & being in a Sartaine
Field Commonly Called or Known by the Name of Chippenham Feild All which
Said Lands are Cituate Lyeing & being in the Parrish of Chippenham in the County
of Wilts and are Commonly Called or Known by the Name of Woottons
hould Which I Lately Purchased of William Baylisse of Chippenham in
the County Of Wilts Gent, Item I give and bequeath unto my Loveing Grand Sonn
Edward Edalls All that Messuage or Tenament with the Orchard thereunto
Adjoyneing which I Now Livethe in and to his heirs for Ever which I formerlye
Purchased of one Mary Burne of Corsham in the County of Wilts Widdow
Item I give and bequeath unto my Loveing Daughter Elizabeth Baker widdow
my greate Brueing Kettle, Item I give and bequath unto my Loveing
Grandson Edward Baker My Chest and my Cartt and wheels and my dungg
pott and All the Other harness belonging to the Same and my horse beast If I
Dye possest of one,
Item I give and bequeath unto my Loveing Grandsonn Edward Eda
All the rest of my Houshould goods and plate that is not herein bequeathed
before And All my Live? goods
Item I give and bequeath unto my loveing
Daughter in Law Jane Edolls The Sum of Twenty Shillings of Lawfull money of
England to be paid her by my Executors here after Named, Item all the rest of my goods
and Chattles After my debts Legacyes and Funerall Expences being first paid and
Discharged I give and beqeath the Same unto my Loveing Grandchildren
Edward Baker and Edward Edalls whome I make ordaine and Constitute to
bee my Joynte Executors of this my Last will and Testament, And I doe
hereby Nominate and appointe my Loveing Daughters Elizabeth Baker
And Jane Edalls to bee my Overseers of this my Last will and Testament
two See the Same duely and Truely pformed In Wittness whereof I the said
Edward Edalls have hereunto putt my hand and Seal the Day and year first
above written.

Signed Sealed published and Declared by mee
the above named Edward Edalls to be my Last
will and Testament in the presence of

Edward was buried at Langley Burrell on 29th March 1687
Executors and Trustees were sworn to carry out their duties on 22 April 1687 and to make an inventory.
On the inventory there are many bits of paper missing.
