John Hunt of East Lockinge - his Will - 1792

 This is the Last Will

and Testament of me John Hunt of East Hendred in the
County of Berks Gentleman made this sixteenth Day of
August in the year of Our Lord one thousand seven hundred 
and seventy nine First I order all my Just Debts to be paid
and satisfied Then I Give Devise and Bequeath unto my
Dear Wife Elizabeth Deborah Hunt all that my Messuage
or Tenement and all and singular other the Premises with
 
their appurts situate and being at Chiswick in the County
of Middlesex which was some short time since left me by
my late Brother Joseph Hunt and which I have surrendered?
to the use of this my Will To hold the same unto her my
said Dear Wife her heirs and assigns
for ever and i give and bequeath unto my said
dear Wife Elizabeth Deborah
Hunt the Legacy or Sum of
fifteen hundred pounds of
lawful Money of Great
Britain to be [] by
my Trustees herein after
named and to the?
immediately or as soon
as possible? after my decease
out of my Real and
Personal Estate and 
to thereby make the same
charged liable and
chargeable with the payment
thereof Also I give and
bequeath unto my said dear Wife
all my Household Goods and Furniture of what
sort or kind soever Plate Linen and Woollen the same to be
entirely at her own disposal And as to all the Rest Residue
and Remainder of my Real and Personal Estate and
Effects of what nature or kind soever ready Money Book
Debts Bills Bonds Notes Mortgages and every other thing
whatsoever wherein I shall be Possessed of [] in or
by any means intitled unto either in Possession or Reversion
I Give devise and Bequeath the same and every part and
parcel thereof unto my said Dear Wife Elizabeth Deborah
Hunt my Brothers in Law John Pocock the younger of
Fawley in the County of Berks Gentleman and Walter
Gilmore of Marlborough in the County of
Berks Grocer and to the Survivors and Survivor of them
their his or her Executors and Admons to and for the
several uses Trusts intents and purposes following that
is to say In Trust that they my said Trustees the said Elizabeth
Deborah Hunt John Pocock the younger and Walter Gilmore
and the Survivors and Survivor of them do and shall sell
and dispose thereof for the Cost Price or Prices they can
get for the same and the Money thereby arising do and
shall as soon as possible-- Place out at Interest or
some good and sufficient security or Securities for the best
Interest they can get for the same and do and shall payment
and apply the same or so much thereof as shall be
sufficient for and towards the Board Maintenance Education
and [] up of all my Children who shall be living at
the time of my Decease or that shall begotten by me
and born in due time afterwards until they shall
respectively arrive to their Age of twenty one years and
when and as soon as they shall respectively arrive to
their Age of twenty one years as aforesaid that they my
Trustees and the Survivors and Survivor of them his or her
Executors or Admons do and shall pay and apply all the
said Principal Moneys and Interest unto such of them
in equal Proportions as they shall severally arrive to
their respective Age or Ages of twenty one years as aforesaid
the same to be equally Divided? share and share alike and
in case of the Death of either of them before they shall
arrive ti her -- his or their Age of twenty one years then
and in such Case the share or part of such Child or Children
so dying shall go to the Survivors or Survivor of them and in
Case only one of them shall live to attain that age then
 
the whole thereof to such survivor his or her Heirs Executors
Admons and Assigns And I do hereby commit the Care and
Guardianship of all my said Children unto my said Trustees
before named not doubting but ---- they will do every thing
in their power for the benefit of my said Children And Lastly
I do hereby nominate Constitute and appoint my said Dear
wife Elizabeth Deborah Hunt John Pocock and Walter Gilmore
joint Executors and Executrix of this my Will hereby revoking
and making void all former and other Will and Wills Codicil
and Codicils by me at any time heretofore made []
[] and declaring this and this only to be my last
Will and Testament In Testimony whereof I the said John
Hunt the Testator to this my last Will and Testament
contained in this and the two preceding half sheets of paper
on the two first whereof I have set my hand and to this
last and third my name and Seal the Day and Year
mentioned in the first preceding sheet John Hunt Signed
sealed published and declared by the said John Hunt the
Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the
presence of us who at his request and in his presence and
in the presence of each other subscribed our names as
witnesses thereto - Sarah Nash - Thomas Giles Edw Nash
 
This is a Codicil to be annexed to and taken as
part of the last Will and Testament of me John Hunt late
of East Hendred in the County of Berks but now of East
Lockinge in the said County of Berks Gentleman made this
Eleventh Day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand
seven hundred and ninety two Whereas inn and by my said last
Will and Testament bearing date the Sixteenth Day of August
which was in the year of our Lord one thousand seven
hundred and seventy nine I have amongst other things
therein mentioned and after several Legacies thereby given
unto my Wife given the rest and residue of my Effects unto my said Wife Elizabeth Debora Hunt my Brothers in Law
John Pocock of Fawley in the said County of Berks Gentleman
and Walter Gilmore of Marlborough in the County of Wilts
Grocer and to the Survivors and Survivor of them their his
or her Executors or Admons to and for the several uses Trusts
intents and purposes therein Particularly mentioned as in?
and by my said Will referrrence? being thereunto have? will
more fully and at large appear Now I the said John Hunt
do hereby revoke and make null and void so much of the
Trust therein mentioned as respects the said Walter Gilmore
only and I do hereby order and direct that he the said
Walter Gilmore shall have nothing to do there with
the whole of such Trust shall devolve and rest with the
said Elizabeth Deborah Hunt and John Pocock and with
the Survivor of them his or her Executors or Admons and
be carried on and Managed by them and the Survivor of them
his or her Executors or Admons free from the Control or
intermeddling of the said Walter Gilmore his Executors or
 
Admons and whereas I have in and by my said Will given
all the Rest and Residue of my Estate and Effects after
certain Legacies therein particularly mentioned unto all
my Children to be equally Divided between them at their
Age of twenty one years in manner therein particularly
mentioned and whereas it seems the desire of my Daughters
as well as my own will and Inclination that my Son John
Peter Hunt should have a greater share of my Property
than my Daughters Now I do hereby order and direct that
my said Son John Peter Hunt shall be paid by my said
Trustees and Executors hereinafter named before any
general Division shall take Place in manner as directed
by my said Will the Sum of Four hundred pounds of lawful
Money of Great Britain which I hereby Give and Bequeath
unto him and which I hereby order and direct shall be
paid unto him and become his property at his Age of twenty
one years over and above the share here after given unto him
and whereas I have given unto my two Sons in Law John
Slade and Charles Rainsford at Different times Considerable
Sums of Money to a Considerable Amount Now I do hereby
order and Direct that the several Sums of Money so given
unto each of them as aforesaid shall be secured and go as part
of the Proportions of the property left them and their wives
by virtue of this my Codicil and my said Will and that above
Sum sufficient to make all my Children equal shall be
paid to all those who have survived? sufficient out of my said
Effects so as to make them all equal as to what I shall
leave them before a final Division of the Residuum of my
said  Effects shall take place except as to the said Legacy
of Four hundred pounds which I have given unto my said
Son John Peter Hunt as aforesaid my true intent and meaning
is that neither of my said Children shall have more than
the other except my said Son John Peter Hunt who
shall have the said Sum of Four hundred pounds more
than either of my said daughters ] after payment of the said sum of four hundred pounds as
aforesaid the whole Residuum of my said Estate and Effects
which shall remain after payment of my Debts and the
Legacies given by my said will unto my said Wife shall be
equally Divided between all my Children namely Elizabeth
the Wife of John Slade Lettitia the Wife of Charles Rainsford
Charlotte Hunt and John Peter Hunt equally share and
share alike But it is my Will and Desire and I do hereby
order and Direct that my said wife shall have the Leases
of my Farms which I now occupy for the remainder of the
Terms now to come and shall carry on and Manage the
said Farms to and for her own use and benefit and
that she shall retain the Stock thereon after Payment of
my Debts and Funeral Expenses or so much thereof as she
shall think proper for that purpose she my said wife
giving unto each of my said Children who shall be entitled
to the Residuum or a part of the Residuum as he or she
shall be entitled unto under my said Will or this my Codicil
 
together with Interest for such Moneys at the rate of
Four pounds per cent per annum which said Bonds shall
be made payable by my said Wife her Heirs Executors and
Admons Immediately upon the Death or Marriage of my
said wife or upon the Determination of the Term now
subsisting for which I hold my said Farm wherein I now live
which shall first happen except only as to my said Son
John Peter Hunt who shall be entitled unto his share or
part thereof at his age of twenty one years together with
Interest for the same after the rate of Four pounds per
cent per annum from the time of my Decease any thing
in my will contained to the Contrary notwithstanding And
I do hereby ratify and confirm all other Gifts Devises and
Bequests in and by my said Will given Devised and
Bequeathed and do ratify and confirm this as a Codicil to be
annexed to and taken as part of my said last Will And I do
hereby make my said Wife the said Elizabeth Deborah Hunt
and my Brother in Law the said John Pocock Executrix and
Executor of this my Codicil as also of my said Will and Trustees
for my said Children In Witness whereof I the said John Hunt
the testator of this my Codicil as well as of my said Will which
Codicil is contained in these three sheets of Paper to each of which
I have set my hand and Seal the Day and year mentioned in
the first sheet - John Hunt - Signed Sealed Published and
Declared by the said John Hunt the Testator as and for above
Codicil to be annexed to and taken as part of his last Will
and Testament in the presence of us who have at his request and in his
presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed
our names as Witnesses thereto William Kimber - Thos Nash
 
This Will was proved at London with a Codicil
the twenty sixth Day of March in the year of our Lord one
thousand seven hundred and ninety five before the Right []
Honourable Sir William Wynne Knight Doctor Laws Master
Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury
lawfully constituted by the Oath of Elizabeth Deborah otherwise Debora
Hunt Widow the Relict of the ] and one of the Executors named in the
said Codicil to whom Administration of all and singular the Goods
Chattels and Credits of the said Deceased was granted having
been first sworn by Commission duly to Administer Power reserved
of making the like Grant to John Pocock the other Executor
named  in the said Codicil when he shall apply for the same
