Leonard Slade of Aston Upthorp - his Will - 1691

Leonard was my 7x Great Grandfather. His relationship to my Mother can be seen here.

 In the Name of God Amen

the twenty fourth day of January in the third year of the reign of
our Sovereign Lord and Lady William and Mary by the grace
of God of England Scotland France and Ireland King and Queen
defenders of the faith Anno Domini 1691 I Leonard Slade of Aston
Upthorp in the parish of Blewbury in the County of Berks Yeoman
being weak in body but sound and perfect mind and memory God
be praised for the same but mindful of the uncertainty of this Life
do make and declare this my last will and Testament in manner and
form following that is to say first and principally I do commit and
commend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God my Creator
hoping through the merits of Jesus Christ my only Saviour and
Redeemer to be made partaker of Everlasting Life and my body
to the Earth from whence it came to be buried in the Parish Church of
Blewbury at the discretion of my Executor hereinafter mentioned
And as for my temporal Estate that the Lord hath lent me I do give
and devise as it followeth Imprim I do give and devise unto My
Son John Slade all my Messuages Lands and Tenements w'soever
with their and every of their appurtenances Situate lying & being
in Aston Upthorp aforesaid to him my said Son John Slade and
his heires forever Item I do give and bequeath unto my Son Joseph
 
Slade the sum of Eight hundred pounds of lawful money of England
to be paid to him or his assigns within two years next after my decease
by my Executor herein after named Item I do give and bequeath unto my
Son Robert Slade the sum of five hundred pounds of good and lawful
money of England to be paid to him or to his assigns within five years
next after my decease by my Executor hereinafter named Item I do give
and bequeath unto my daughter Frances now wife of William Yallen?
the sum of two hundred pounds of good and lawful money of England
to be paid to her or her assigns within Seven years next after my
decease Item I do give and bequeath unto my Son Gregory Slade the
sum of five shillings Item I do give and bequeath unto my grandchild
Elinor Tirrold one of the daughters of Joseph Tirrold the sum of
five pounds to be paid to her or her assigns when she shall come
attain to her full age of one and twenty years by my Executor
hereinafter named Item I do give and bequeath unto my grandchildren
Elinor Humphrey and Anne Humphrey two of the daughters of John
Humphrey the sums of ten pounds a piece of good and lawful money
of England to be paid to they or their Assigns when they shall come and
attain to their full age of one and twenty years by my Executor herein
after named Item I do give and bequeath unto all and every the rest of
my Grandchildren the sum of five Shillings a piece to be paid by my Executor
within one year next after my decease and my will is that my Executor
shall give sufficient security for the payment of my Several Legacies
here by me given and bequeathed until he my said Executor do make
full payment of all the Legacies here by me given and bequeathed
according to the several times here by me Limited and appointed
for payment here of Item all the rest and residue of my goods chattels
Cattle household stuff Credits whatsoever unbequeathed and not
given I do give and bequeath unto my said Son John Slade whom I 
do make and ordain my full Sole Executor of this my last will and
Testament and I do hereby renounce and make void all and
every other will gifts?/ grants and bequeaths whatsoever hereto
for by me made or declared and this present writing I do declare
to be my last will and Testament and no other In Witness
whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal the day and year
above written the mark of Leonard Slade Signed Sealed and
declared by the said Leonard Slade to be his last will and
Testament in the presence of us John Smith Richard Neale
Junr Will Thorpe.
 
Probate granted in London 6 February 1694 to John Slade
