Robert Seager of Hilmarton - his Will - 1740

Robert was my first cousin 7x removed.. His relationship to my Mother can be seen here.

 In the Name of God Amen the Ninth Day of April in the Thirteenth Year of the Reigne of our
Sovereign & Lord George the Second by the Grace of God of Great Brittain France and Ireland King Defender of the
Faith and so forth and in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven hundred and Forty I Robert Seager of Corton Farm
within the parish of Hilmarton in the Couty of Wilts Gentleman being sick and weak in body but of sound and dispossing
Mind Memory and Understanding (Thanks be to God for the same)Do make and Ordain this my last Will and Testament
in manner following (that is to say) First I commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God who gave it to me and my
body to be buried in a decent and Christian like manner by my Exors hereinafter named and so for such worldly
Estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me I dispose thereof in manner following First I give unto my
dear wife Ann Seager the Sum of Ten pounds of Lawfull Brittish money to be paid to her or her assignes by
my Executors hereinafter named half Yearly by equal payments for and during the Terme of her natural life
Also I give unto my said wife my green Bed bedstead Curtains Vallenc and every thing thereto belonging in the
Chamber over the Dairy house? Also I give unto my daughter Dorothy Seager the Sume of Four hundred
pounds of Lawful money of Great Brittain to be paid for her use unto Stephen White of Compton Bassett
in the said County Yeoman Thomas Neate of Calne in the said County Druggett maker Roger Spackman of Lyneham
in the said County Yeoman and Thomas Crook son of Edward Crook of Tytherton Lucas in the said County Gent or to
the Survivors or Survivor of them his Exors or Adms within Six Months next after my decease and to be placed out at
Interest for her Use until she shall attain her age of One and twenty Years or day of Marriage And my Will and
meaning is that in Case my said daughter Dorothy Seager shall happen to dye before she shall attain her age of One
and twenty Years and shall not marry before she shall attain her said age of One and twenty Years Then I give and
bequeath the Legacy of her so dying unto my son or reputed son William Seager (born of the body of my said wife
Anne) and to my son Humphry Seager equally between them share and share alike Also I give unto the said
Stephen White Thomas Neate Roger Spackman and Thomas Crook All that my Messuage or Tenement now in
the possession of William Lewis together with the Lands and Appurtenances thereto belonging [] in
Clevancy in the said parish of Hillmaton called by the name of Skinners Bargain To hold to them the said
Stephen White Thomas Neate Roger Spackman and Thomas Crook and to the Survivors and Survivor of them
their Exors and Adms In Trust nevertheless and to and for the severall and expecting? use of my said son
or reputed Son William Seager and Humphry Seager their Heirs and Assignes for ever when they shall attain
their respective ages of One and twenty Years Also I give unto thesaid Stephen White Thomas Neate
Roger Spackman and Thomas Crook and to the Survivors and Survivor of them their Exors and adms
All those my severall Leasehold Estates situate lying and being in the said parish of Hillmarton commonly called
or known by the severall names of Cleeve Living Snow Hill and Heath Bargain To hold to the said
Leasehold premises unto the said Stephen White Thomas Neate Roger Spackman and Thomas Crook and
to the Survivors and Survivor of them his Exors and Adms for and during all the
severall Terms and Estates I have therein respectively got to come and unexpired In Trust nevertheless
and to and for the severall and respective Uses of my said son or reputed Son William Seager and Humphrey
Seager their Exors Adms and assignes for and during the severall Termes I have therein to come and
unexpired in Case they shall attain their respective ages of One and twenty years Bit if the said William
Seager and Humphrey Seager shall happen to dye before they shall attain their respective Ages of One
and twenty Years Then In Trust and to and for the benefitt and behoofe of my said daughter Dorothy
Seager her Exors and Adms for and during the severall Terms that shall be therein then to come and
unexpired Also I give unto the said Stephen White Thomas Neate Roger Spackman and Thomas
Crook half a Guinea each All the rest residue and remainder of my ready money Securities for money
Plate Goods and Chattles of what nature or kind soever they be first herein before already disposed of
I give and bequeath unto the said Stephen White Thomas Neate Roger Spackman and Thomas Crook

and the Survivors and Survivor of them his Execs and Adms In Trust nevertheless and to and for the several Uses of them
the said William Seager and Humphrey Seager their Execs Adms and Assignes in [] they shall attain their respective Ages of
One and twenty Years And I do herby nominate and appoint the said Stephhen WhiteThomas Neate Roger Spackman and Thomas
Crook Execs in Trust of this my last Will and Testament untill my said son or reputed Son William Seager and Humphrey
Seager shall attain their respective Ages of One and twenty Years and then I do appoint my said son or reputed Son
William Seager and Humphry Seager joynt Execs of this my last Will and Testament provided always and my further
Will and meaning is That if at any time or times hereafter any Loss or Losses shall happen by putting or placing
out at Interest the money herein before by me devised I Trust or any part thereof or the Interest or proceed thereof
without the willfull neglect or default of the said Stephen White Thomas Neate Roger Spackman and Thomas Crook
or the Survivors or Survivor of them his Exors or Adms by failure of any Security or Securitys upon which the same
shall or may be placed out yet notwithstanding the said Stephen White Thomas Neate Roger Spackman and
Thomas Crook or the Survivors or Survivor of them his Exors or Adms shall not be any ways liable to make
good any such Loss or Losses Provided also and it is my further Will and meaning That the said
Stephen White Thomas Neate Roger Spackman and Thomas Crook and the Survivors and Survivor of them
his and their Execs and Adms shall from time to time and at all times hereafter be reimbursed all such Costs
Charges Losses Damages and Expences as they or any or either of them shall be putt unto or sustain by reason
of the Trusts in them hereby reposed or the Execution thereof or any thing relating thereunto and that neither of
them shall be chargeable or answerable for the receipts disbursmts Arts and Deeds of the other of them
nor for any more money than shall actually come to their hands by reason of the Trusts aforesaid or for any other
Loss that shall happen therein without their Willfull neglect or default any thing herein contained to the contrary
thereof not withstanding and my further Will and meaning is that my Executors in Trust herein before named
shall at any time after my decease if they think fitt and convenient by and out of my Goods Chattles and Effects
purchase of the Lord or Lords of the Mannor of Cleeve ancy aforesaid the Life of the said Humphry Seager
of and in the said Leasehold Estate called Cleeve Living in reversion of for the death? of my nephew William
Seager and my said son or reputed son William Seager Lastly I do hereby revoke all former Wills by
me made and do declare this to be my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have to this my last
Will and Testament contained in Two Sheets of Paper sett my hand and Seal to each sheet of Paper the Day
and Year first above written
