Richard Hollis of Kingsthorpe - his Will - 1720

In the Name of God Amen the Seventh say of September and in the Seventh year of Our Sovereign Lord George by the grace of God of great Britain France and Ireland King defender of the Faith and in the year of our Lord god 1720 I Richard Holliss of Kingsthorpe in the County of Northampton yeoman being sick of body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God for it. and therefore calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing it is appointed for all men to die do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament and principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul to the hands of almighty God who gave it and as for my body I recommend it to the earth to be buried in a Christian like decent manner at the discretion of my Executrix hereinafter named and as [] such world estate which it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life ----- dispose of the same in the following manner and form and first I Will that all my debts and funeral charges should be first ------ I give and bequeath to my Loving Wife Katharine all that my house and homestead wherein I now dwell together with all the Arrable Land Meadow Land and Pasture ground (wherein my said Wife Katharine was joyntured) for and during the term of her natural life and immediately from and after her decease I give and devise of the same unto my son Thomas Holliss and his heirs for Ever. Item I give and bequeath unto my son Richard Holliss the sum of twenty pounds to be paid him when he shall arrive to the age of twenty two years. Item I give and bequeath unto my son John Holliss the sum of twenty pounds to be paid him when he shall arrive to the age of twenty two years and I will that my Executor and Executrix do give five pounds with him to put him an Apprentice to a trade when he shall arrive to the age of fourteen years. Item I give and bequeath unto my son George Holliss the sum of twenty pounds to be paid him when he shall arrive to the age of twenty two years and likewise I will that my Executor and Executrix do give five pounds with him to put him an Apprentice to a trade when he shall arrive to the age of fourteen years. Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth Holliss the sum of twenty pounds to be paid to her when she shall arrive to the age of twenty two years. Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Sarah Holliss the sum of twenty pounds to be paid to her when she shall arrive to the age of twenty two years. Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary Holliss the sum of twenty pounds to be paid to her when she shall arrive to the age of twenty two years. and my Will and meaning is that if any of my said children should die before their said Legacies shall become due then I will that his or their legacies shall be Equally divided amongst the Survivors of them share and share alike. Item I give and bequeath (in Trust) unto my Loving and Trusty friends and Brothers John Holliss of Kingsthorpe yeoman and John Barber of Moulton yeoman all that ten Acres of Arrable ley and pasture ground------------- which I bought of William Canby and Bonnoth? his wife and others. and to their heirs for the use intent and purpose herein after mentioned (viz) first I will that my wife Katharine do receive the rents Issues and profits thereof for and during the term of her natural life provided Nevertheless that my son Thomas Holliss should not pay my said Children their said Legacies or any part of them as they shall become one then I Will that my said Trustees John Holliss and John Barber do sell the said ten Acres of Land for the best price they can and so the said Legacies paid as they shall become one and Item I give and bequeath unto my Loving wife Katharine all other of my Ready Money goods and Chattels whatsoever not heretobefore bequeathed and I do Constitute make and Ordain my loving Wife Katharine and my Son Thomas Hollis my only and Sole Executrix and Executor of this my Last Will and Testament and I do hereby Revoke disannul and disallow all other former Wills Legacies and Testaments ------ and bequests whatsoever by me in any wise before this time Willed devised or bequeathed Ratifying and Confirming this and no other to be my Last Will and Testament in witness whereof I have set my hand and seal this day and year above Written.
