Note:
This is the Last Will and Testament of me Henry Goodman of Easton in the County of Wilts Gentleman In the first Place I will order and direct that all my Just Debts Funeral Expenses and the Charges of proving this my Will be first paid and discharged Item I give devise and bequeath unto my Son Maurice Hiller Goodman all that my Freehold Messuage or Tenement Lands and Hereditaments situate in West Shirst? in the Parish of Pewsey in the said County of Wilts which descended and came to me on the death of my Father To hold the same unto my said Son his Heirs and Assigns for ever Subject to the Power and Thirds of my dear Wife Catherine for her life Item I give devise and bequeath unto my said Wife All that my Freehold Estate Lands and Premises in West Shircot aforesaid and Down Pewsey in the said County of Wilts which I lately held by Copy and Lease under the Lord of the Manor of Pewsey aforesaid and purchased in Fee by me of him And Also the Reversion in Fee of two Closes of Arable Land in West Shircot aforesaid one being part of a Copyhold Estate late belonging to Edward Shepherd And the other being part of a Copyhold Estate late belonging to the Widow Edwards To hold the same unto my said Wife and her Assigns during the Term of her natural Life And from and immediately after her decease I give and devise part of the said last mentioned Premises to wit that part of the same in the Occupation of Edward Fowle and James Phelps which lies in West Shicrot and Down Pewsey aforesaid unto my said Son John his Heirs and Assigns for ever and the remaining part of the said Premises lying and being in Down Pewsey aforesaid to wit The Messuage and Premises in the Occupation of William Mills and Charles Liddall I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth the Wife of John Butcher her Heirs and Assigns for ever Item I give and bequeath unto my said Son Maurice Hiller Goodman one thousand Pounds to be paid to him by my Executrix herein after named in twelve Months next after my decease out of the Moneys which I have in the Hands of Messrs Barlow and Copy Linen Drapers London Item I give devise and bequeath unto my three Daughters Sarah Catherine and Charlotte Four hundred Pounds apiece to be paid to them respectively when they shall attain their respective Ages of twenty one Years And I hereby direct that the said last mentioned Legacies so given to my said Daughters Sarah Catherine and Charlotte shall carry Interest of Five Per Cent Per Annum until they shall respectively become payable And if any or either of my said three Daughters shall happen to die before their or her Legacy or Legacies shall become Payable Then I will and direct that the Legacy or Legacies of her or them so dying shall go to and be divided equally to and amongst the Survivors and Survivor of them Item I give to my said Daughter Elizabeth the Wife of the said John Butcher one hundred Pounds to be paid to her in twelve Months next after my decease by my Executrix herein after named Item all the Rest Residue and Remainder of my Goods Chattels Moneys Securities for Moneys and Personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever Except my Plate and China which I hereby give unto my said Wife her Executors Administrators and Assigns after payment of my Debts Funeral Expenses and Pecuniary Legacies I give devise and bequeath unto my said Son John his Executors Administrators and Assigns And Lastly In do hereby nominate and appoint my said Wife Catherine sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament which I do hereby declare to be my last hereby revoking all former Wills by me made In Witness whereof I have to this my said last Will and Testament contained in two Sheets of Paper to the first Sheet set my Hand and to this second and last Sheet my Hand and Seal this twenty seventh day of January in the Year of Our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy four Henry Goodman Signed Sealed and delivered Published and declared by the above named Testator Henry Goodman as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of Us who in his presence and at his Request and in the presence of each other have Set Our Names as Witnesses hereto Willm Jay John Hannam George Stagg
